With Varilux® X Series™ progressive lenses, Essilor offers a new solution for those who are presbyopic and need to see well, especially at near and intermediate distances.
Essilor designed the Varilux® X Series™ with Generation X in mind (born between 1965 and 1980): active, always-connected people who constantly switch between their phone, computer screen, and reading. The goal is sharp vision at every distance, from near to far.
Xtend™ technology
With traditional progressive lenses, you sometimes have to move your head to find the spot where the vision is sharp. Varilux® X Series™ lenses reduce this inconvenience thanks to Xtend™ technology: each lens is calculated point by point to manage multiple distances for every direction of gaze. The result is smoother vision for activities between 40 and 70 cm, such as working on a computer or using a smartphone.
Developed with presbyopes
According to Essilor, nearly 3,000 presbyopes around the world participated in the development of these lenses through focus groups, videos, and tests in the HouseLab™, a simulated home environment where how people use their eyes in everyday life is observed.
Varilux®, since 1959
Varilux® lenses were invented by Essilor in 1959 and were the first progressive lenses. The X Series™ are the evolution of this long history.
